Petrof – Handcrafted Grand Pianos and Upright Pianos from the Czech Republic
Since 1864, the highly skilled craftsmen at Petrof have been making grand pianos and upright pianos. Unlike most piano manufacturers, all Petrof grand pianos and upright pianos have a significant handcrafted component.
The woodwork operations on Petrof pianos, such as the precisely tapered soundboard and the components for the piano rim, are shaped on a high-tech CNC router, providing exact precision.
The assembly operations, including the working of bridges, positioning of the iron plate, regulation of keyboard & action and shaping of the hammerheads – are all done by hand. These delicate operations greatly influence the sound and character of a piano and only a trained piano specialist can individually tailor the adjustments to bring out the best in each and every Petrof piano.
The grand pianos and upright pianos of the Petrof Master Series, Art Series and Special Collection are all fully handcrafted. The Petrof Standard Series of grand pianos and upright pianos are approximately 60% handcrafted.
