Czech Republic President Klaus and his wife had a 30-minute private meeting with Pope Benedict XVI in Prague today where they exchanged gifts. In the Pope’s first visit to the Czech Republic, he donated a mosaic depicting Czech patron saint Wenceslas to President Klaus. The mosaic was painted by Vatican artists and continues the tradition that Pope Benedict XVI often gives mosaics during his foreign trips. To reciprocate, Czech Republic President Klaus donated, amongst other things, a piano bench from the renowned firm Petrof, knowing that one of Pope’s favourite pastimes is playing the piano. The Petrof Company is very proud of the president Klaus´s confidence which was expressed by this special order. We also hope that this custom made bench will make the Pope´s piano playing even more enjoyable. |
